Howard E. Bean, Sr.’s Plaque on the Rock

On Friday, October 30, 2009 at 6:40 p.m., prior to the Kingswood – Kennett football game, there will be a brief ceremony honoring the placing of Howard E. Bean, Sr.’s name on the Memorial Rock on the Kingswood playing fields.  The rock was made available by the Hale family in memory of Robert Hale; the rock now also includes plaques for Barry Tibbetts, Lester Bean, and Howard E. Bean, Sr.

The application to include Howard’s name on the rock was heartily endorsed by Chip Skelley, player and football coach, Bonnie Rankin Lord, player, coach, and athletic director, and Kristie Hunter Smith, player, coach, and KRHS Alumni Association president.  A very generous donation has been received to meet the expenses of placing Howard’s name on the rock.  Anyone wishing to make a donation should send it to the Kingswood Alumni Association, P.O. Box 190, Wolfeboro Falls, NH 03896.  Any money donated beyond the cost of the plaque will be in a designated account to fund special athletic projects in Howard’s name.

Howard was a sports enthusiast, an ardent supporter of athletic endeavor and competition as a school board member, a citizen of Wolfeboro, a generous business owner, and a proud parent and grandparent.  For many years he was on the chain gang for football games and a reliable organizer for timing sporting events.  When asked to assist in any way, Howard was there with competent help.  Howard E. Bean. Sr.’s name belongs on the rock.
